Introductory video showing how to get started with PackCapture Order Recording.
The PackCapture platform will work with many different webcams. The main features you should look at when purchasing and setting up your webcam are:
1. Resolution- 1080p and higher is recommended
2. Auto focus- Ensure it has this function
3. Light correction- Ensure it has this function
We have tested some, although not all, webcams on the market and would happily recommend these:
1. Logitech C920
2. Logitech C615
However there are many great webcams which would work perfectly. If you're not sure let us know what you have or what you're planning on using and we can check the specs !
Write out a description to describe the problem. Consider breaking out the solution into small steps to make it easy for someone to solve themselves.
What should users do first?

1. Camera Switch
If your webcam is connected to your PC, then you should automatically see the video appear. If it doesn’t, you can toggle the video on, and off, by clicking the on/off button below the video window.
2. Input Camera
If your PC has a built-in webcam, then this setting may default on that webcam. To switch to your external webcam you are using for packing, you can toggle between ‘front’ and ‘back’ cameras.
3. Mirror Image
Some webcams are mirrored by default so you may need to enable or disable this, so you can see the barcode or any other text on the product correctly. This toggle will switch between the two.
4. Rotate
This setting will rotate the camera window 180 degrees. This may be required depending on how you’ve mounted your webcam.
Full Screen
In the top right of the control panel is the button to make the recording camera window full screen. This is so you can remove then menu's and settings not required on the screen at your packing desk
Barcode Scan
The Input Box is where you can scan or type in a reference to associate with the recording. This may be the order number, shipping number or any other reference number. After entering this number you can also press the ENTER key on your keyboard to trigger the recording.
Play Controls
Once the recording is underway you have various record controls
- Pause the current video
- Un-pause (play)
-Trash icon, discard current recording
Or clicking the "Stop & Save" will end the recording and begin saving the video to your database.
Saving
After clicking "Stop & Save" the video will then be saved to your database. During this process you will see the 'Save Progress' Percentage bar display the saving progress. Once saving is complete, this recording will now show as the 'Last Saved Video'
This is where you’ll see the list of previously recorded packing videos. You can search for a specific video using the search field in the top right.
Under the Videos column, this is where you can click “PLAY” to bring up the video you wish to see.
In this popup you also have the option of copying the video link, to provide to someone else such as the customer. Or you can input the email address of someone and email the video link direct from here. Here you can also record actions against the video such as:
- If the customer has queried the order and what they queried
- If, upon investigation, the order was packed correctly
- Any notes that relate to the customer query or investigation
In the next column, you have the option of downloading the video to your PC.
The final column is where you can delete a previously recorded video, when, for example if you made an error during recording, and you wish to remove it and re-record. This function can also be disabled within the ADMIN section.
In the Admin Section you'll see a table of recorded videos, similar to the one in the Database section. However, as this view is for the Admin, you have additional options available to you. In this section you can delete multiple videos or export or download them all in one action. The status section in the right most column also shows if the video has just been recorded, or whether it has also been viewed or emailed as well.
Under USER MANAGEMENT, here is where you can add more users as required. Normally, you would have 1 user per packing desk and can then link users to packing videos.
Under VIDEO STORAGE OPTIONS there are several settings
- Select how long you wish to retain your videos for. You may want to have the platform auto delete your videos after a certain number of months, to keep your storage usage down. Keenp in mind, that the period the video will be deleted after is the storage time that was set when it was uploaded. So changing this setting only impacts new videos recorded after this field is changed.
- There is an option to “allow users to delete videos”, if this is enabled, the packer can delete videos in the Database screen. If it’s not enabled, then this function can only be performed by the ADMIN user.
- Next there is a toggle to determine which videos appear in the Database screen. You can either only show the videos recorded by the user logged-in, or show all videos recorded by all users under the account.
- Set Videos to Private. This allows you to upload the video so that you can only view the video on the packcapture platform, not with the URL. If you want to share the direct URL of the video, ensure this option is not enabled.
Below this is the: VIDEO DELETION HISTORY
Here you can see a log of when specific videos were deleted by users and the user who delete it. This can be used for audit purposes.
